Before Your Visit

At the nine stops on this trail you can observe fossils (models and even originals) from every epoch in the evolution of life on Earth. This walk through prehistory, around three hundred meters long, starts in the Proterozoic and goes on through the Paleozoic down to the Quaternary period.

Get a commemorative medal with your favorite animal! Commemorative medal vending machines are located at five sites on Prague Zoo premises. Each vending machine sells two types of medals for CZK 30 apiece. So you can acquire 10 different types of coins in total.

In our zoological garden you will come across large-screen multitouch panels, which are full of interesting information, images and videos. Modern technology allows you to make the acquaintance of elephants, giraffes, endangered birds, lions and tigers, reptilian denizens of the Central Asian and Sonoran desert exhibits, or shoebills.

At several sites on the Zoo premises you can find special mist sprinklers, which you can use to cool down on hot days.

There is a Komerční banka ATM by the main entrance.

If your child gets lost on Zoo premises (or in other emergency situations), an announcement can be made on the public address system. This can be arranged in the visitor services office by the main entrances (a glassed-in room). You can also call the emergency phone number +420 737 208 995 (only for Prague Zoo).

Sanitary facilities at the zoo are, for the most part, equipped with a changing table and toilet for disabled visitors.

You can visit Prague Zoo even with your dog. Just remember that the dog must be kept on a leash and have a valid certificate of vaccination, which you should present when buying a ticket for the dog. In the southern part of the zoo you will find the Children’s Zoo, in which direct contact with certain domestic animals is permitted. For five crowns you can buy feed at vending machines and feed these animals yourself.
