Amalee was killed by Elephant Herpesvirus

It mainly afflicts young elephants, and its course is very rapid, so that not even immediate treatment can always stop it. Unfortunately, this was the case with Amalee.

It is a devastating blow for all of us, especially the keepers. We ask for your understanding in that we will not comment on it immediately; instead we will publish more detailed information on Prague Zoo’s website next week.
