Adelaide Zoo
The sum of AU$ 100,000 was provided also to South Australia and the Adelaide Zoo for its outpatient veterinary care and long-term rehabilitation of the wildlife, especially koalas, affected by the bushfires.

Most of the animals were treated on site and only the most serious cases had to be transferred to specialised clinics. As soon as these individu¬als recovered, they began to be released into the wild again.
However, our assistance was not only directed at the mainland koalas (especially from the Mount Lofty Ranges area), but also at koalas from Kangaroo Island. Their population, which, unlike the mainland ones, is not threatened by malignant chlamydia, was hit hard by the bushfires.
At the end of 2020, staff from Zoos South Australia—which includes Adelaide Zoo—sent us a completely unexpected but all the more touching Christmas gift. Watch the video… it’s sure to bring tears to your eyes.
