Prague Zoo is the only Czech zoo and one of just two in Europe that can take pride in hosting these scaly mammals. The main motivation for breeding them is due to the threats they face. In Africa and Asia, pangolins are hunted on an almost industrial scale and have long been one of the most illegally traded mammals in the world.

The Prague Zoo also strives to protect pangolins in their homeland, both in Central Africa and South Asia. In Cameroon, he supports the guardians of protected areas and, as part of the Roaming Bus project, he tries to reduce hunting by educating and educating the local population. In Laos and Sumatra, the zoo financed the construction of rescue stations for pangolins.
