Since autumn 2019, this 2,500m2 pavilion has been rising in the space next to the giraffe enclosure in the upper part of the grounds. There will also be almost 3,000m2 for outdoor enclosures. Currently, the opening is set for autumn 2022.

Photo: Miroslav Bobek, Prague Zoo The first Przewalski’s horse foal was born in Prague Zoo’s breeding station in Dolní Dobřejov on April 16th. The second one saw the light of day on Saturday. Monday was marked by the birth of no less than two foals! According to the keepers, there are three fillies and one colt.

The keepers will know the sex of the newly born Chacoan peccary piglet in about three weeks. In the meantime, the parents are taking good care of it and visitors can see it most of the day with the whole group in the outdoor enclosure. Currently, many of the 82 mammal, bird and reptile species can be seen in the outdoor exhibitions. Among the more interesting of the latest additions are the South American tapir, the Chacoan peccary and the red-crowned cranes.

Photo: Miroslav Bobek, Prague Zoo On April 19th, 2021, the almost twenty-hectare plain at Prague’s Dívčí hrady became the new home to Przewalski’s horses. The Prague Zoo staff transported the first four mares from the breeding station in Dolní Dobřejov. They will be joined by a stallion in due time.
