When finished, the western lowland gorillas’ new home will be the largest exhibition at Prague Zoo. Since autumn 2019, this 2,500m2 pavilion has been rising in the space next to the giraffe enclosure in the upper part of the grounds. There will also be almost 3,000m2 for outdoor enclosures. Currently, the opening is set for autumn 2022.

Visitors can see the giant tortoises in their indoor and outdoor enclosures until the end of September. They decide for themselves whether to go out to graze in the day and when to return inside for the night. Photo: Petr Hamerník, Prague Zoo
For the first time since last October, the giant tortoises have returned to their outdoor enclosure. Finally, visitors to Prague Zoo can observe these popular reptiles, as their indoor exposition in the Giant Tortoise House is still closed to the public.
