Parrot Trail

The sunny southern slope along the trail connecting the polar bear exhibit with the upper chairlift station is home primarily to parrots.
In four double aviaries, you’ll find lories, lorikeets, fig-parrots and hanging-parrots—smaller warmth-loving parrot species native to Australasia. The aviaries are covered with light mesh stretched over wooden frames, with their backs set against natural rock. They are planted in such a way to create an environment that closely resembles the birds’ natural habitats. Each pair of aviaries includes a heated indoor shelter with large front-facing windows, allowing visitors to observe the parrots even in winter.
The highlight of the trail is a large walk-through aviary with free-flying parrots and other bird species, guiding visitors through wooded and bushy Australian habitats.
