The characteristics of the activities of the operational division
The operational division by the means of its activities provides the service for the needs of the whole organisation, i.e. all the maintenance and repairs of the property of the organisation by itself and also by external suppliers. It provides all the contacts within the area of communication, repairs of the telephone network and its service and the administration and service of the computer network as well. In the area of transport we provide the transport needs by our own means of transport and people and we also purchase these activities. We take care of the vehicles of the garden and perform the smaller and medium-extent repairs of the vehicles and machinery. In the field of provision of materials and technologies and administration of the property, we purchase centrally the technical and consumption materials we store them and then provide them on demand. We sign contracts and check the guarding of the area of the zoo and cleaning of the offices, the operational buildings as well as selected expositions for the visitors. By our own means as well as by external supplies we take care of the outside areas, collection of rubbish, care for all the vegetation and maintenance of the roads mainly in the winter season.
We care for all the contractual relationships with the suppliers of energies, with the media and with the insurance companies. We also take part in the fulfilment of the tasks given by the act on zoological gardens (e.g. § 2, b) as our department of environment creates in the expositional spaces of the garden the atmosphere of the home territories of individual animal species. In the other parts of the area of the zoo we follow the principles of planting that are defined by the regional and above-regional bio-corridors. We provide the lease of the residential as well as non-residential spaces and care for its state. We supply the re-invoicing of the expenses that originate from the provision and sale of services and energies to other legal entities and physical persons and sign the lease contracts. We take care of the operation of the educational as well as recreational objects and the lodging house for the employees.
The department is also responsible for the fire prevention and occupational safety. Within the area of our competence, we are responsible for the relations with the state as well as regional administration.
The characteristics of the activities of the operational division in the year of 2006
The activity of the operational division in the above-mentioned period was characterised by the finalising of the basic reconstruction of the garden after the flood in 2002. The principal reconstruction of the buildings, constructions, communications, machinery as well as equipment was finished. This fact was reflected significantly in the much lower demands for the financial resources for the activities of the division in 2006 compared to 2005 (drawing without other personal costs and insurance premium 44.9 million CZK compared to 60.7 million CZK). At the same time we became responsible for the administration of the newly built and opened expositions and operational buildings.
From the operational point of view the division did not have to solve any exceptional or non-standard situations; the division dealt only with common matters of the operation of the zoo.
Beyond the scope of common activity, we realized the supply of the information technologies for all the departments at the total amount of approx. 300 thousand CZK, the organisation of the purchase of storage and office equipment according to the requirements of individual departments. This was connected to the finalising of the building of the object for technological rear spaces II and the moving of the workplaces. We also bought 4 electric vehicles John Deere as a substitute for the Melex and Multicar vehicles that were not any more suitable for the technical and operational requirements of the zoo. A reaper Rider 21 proflex AWD was also purchased.
Drawing of the expenses
The drawing of the total expenses on 31st Dec 2006 (without other personal costs and insurance premium) reached the amount of 44.89 million CZK which represents 100 % of the adapted budget and interannually there was a decrease by approx. 15.8 million CZK.
Most of the expenses have been drawn at or under the adapted budget.
Overview of the activities in the area of property maintenance
The operational division in 2006 prepared and organised the purchase of the information technologies, reaper and three electric vehicles John Deere.
In the area of property maintenance we realized the following activities:
- Reconstruction of the facing of the maintenance object
- Reconstruction of the pavement of the technical rear spaces in the African house
- Movement of the storage spaces in the “Bosnia“ spaces
- Reconstruction of the electric wiring in the object in Dolní Dobøejov
- Minor repairs (cable cases RIS, pumping well for the Vltava water, addition of the thermostatic valves of the central heating, painting of the fencing at the station in Dolní Dobøejov, reconstruction of the thrashed roads in the south part of the area of the zoo, cutting and pruning of the trees as well as planting in the selected and most important localities).
