Young hippo
A young hippopotamus was born in our zoo.
During night from 20th to 21st April a young hippopotamus was born in the Prague Zoo. His father is 22-years-old male Slavek, born in Prague, and mother is 6,5-years-old female Maruska from the Ostrava Zoo. Slavek has been father of several youngs till now and he is exceptionaly gentle and nonagressive toward them and females. Despite this fact he and female are separated now, because Maruska has no experience with her partner and is naturally nervous.
The newborn hippo is male and for the present he and his mother are going well.
