Moja Left for Spain

Moja has moved from Prague Zoo to her new home. At present, she is separated from her new troop. She has already started climbing on the ropes in her dwelling, so the transport does not seem to have stressed her much.

Shortly after she arrived she met her new family in the Cabárceno Nature Park, where she was let out of the transportation box to a separate bedroom belonging to the house of gorillas. “Moja got calmly out of the box and she seemed surprisingly confident in her new surroundings. She even started climbing the ropes,” said Martin Vojáček who accompanied Moja on her journey.

So far, she has only seen the other gorillas through a window of the inside exposition. The next step will be communication through bars where gorillas will be able to touch each other.

In the next few days, Moja will leave her quarantine bedroom and will explore the inside exposition of the house of gorillas. After that, she will meet the male gorilla Niky and two female gorillas Nadia and Chelewa. For Moja, Cabárceno marks a new phase of her life, with the objective to start her own family with her own baby gorillas.

No replacement, but…

“Moja will be greatly missed in Prague. It will be hard to find a replacement,” said Miroslav Bobek, director of Prague Zoo. “Actually, I don’t even want to be looking for a replacement. Moja is only one. But she has the right for a full, proper life – and that is why she had to go.” It would not be appropriate to look for a replacement of Moja. Prague Zoo, however, has a number of other stars that you can meet in the billboard campaign and then in real life in Prague Zoo.
